The Ultimate Bralette Shopping Guide

ultimate bralette shopping guide

I am obsessed with bralettes. I can honestly say that I hope it’s a permanent trend because underwire is the worst! That being said, I know shopping for bralettes isn’t always easy. Especially if you’re bigger busted or just not sure where to find cute bralettes or cheap bralettes. I’ve pretty much been binge shopping for bralettes lately so here, I’ve rounded up some of my current favorites, some other lovely finds and a few shopping tips, too.

The Ultimate Bralette Shopping Guide

Wait, What’s a Bralette?

A bralette is the lazy girl’s bra–no cups, no underwire, just cute and comfy! Think fancy sports bra without the compressed feeling. If you’re looking for a ton of support or lift a bralette may not be for you. But if you’re into the idea of a lace bralette you can layer under a cutout top or just a cute bralette you can wear around the house, read on!

How to Shop for Bralettes

Bralettes can be a little tricky to shop for; a lot of them don’t have adjustable straps or cups so you may have to experiment with sizing a bit. I can wear a size small in Free People bralettes but the Hanky Panky bralette I own is a medium. Sometimes it’s hard to find a cute bralette where the cup size is big enough but the band around the rib cage is small enough–shop around until you find one that works for you! That’s why I either shop for bralettes in person or if I’m shopping for bralettes online I’ll order one of each size. A lot of my bralettes are from Nordstrom where it’s free shipping both ways so it’s not an issue to just buy extra sizes to try on at home!

My Favorite Bralettes

My lingerie drawer is stocked with black and white bralettes, a black lace bralette a halter bralette and strappy bralettes.

I own this Free People bralette in both black and white. It is by far the most comfortable bralette I own and I love, love, love the strappy look! It’s so fun to layer under cute cutout tops or to just wear around the house. Plus, it’s a seamless bralette which is incredibly hard to find and super cheap at just $20!

Another Free People favorite is this “Fish in the Sea’ Free People bralette. It comes in purple, black and ivory and I get soooooo much use out of the black one. The top straps stick out of some of my shirts and has such a cool effect. People stop me and ask me about this bralette all the time. This one is also a size small and another cheap bralette for just $28.

hanky panky retro bralette

I bought this Hanky Panky “Retro” bralette in navy during last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary sale at such a steal! (P.S. Mark your calendar now as the 2016 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is July 14 for Early Access!). This one is currently 40% off and I love the perky pink color. I purchased this bralette in a medium and it’s comfortable and great if you’re looking for a bit more support. Plus, you can’t beat a cute, lace bralette!

kensie bralettes

I picked up two Kensie bralettes recently at Nordstrom Scottsdale Fashion Square, including this one for just $18! This one is a triangle style with adjustable straps on the shoulders and a bra hook on the back so it’s much easier to fit than a lot of one-size-fits-all bralettes. Plus, the spring colors are so perky and fun! I own this one in pink/blue and another I found in yellow/pink because I loved it so much. They also have one in black.

aerie classic lace bralette

For a lace bralette that’s seamless and supportive, try this Aerie classic bralette. I own it in soft pink (size small) and even though it’s lace, it is lined and fairly seamless. Aerie actually has quite a bit of bralettes that are super cheap and right now they have buy one, get one for just $10! The shoulder straps are adjustable but as you can tell from the pic, the back is not.

free people lace halter bralette

Sometimes you need a halter bra and for that I have this Free People lace halter bralette in purple. It’s supportive, lined, pushes up and provides plenty of coverage without an underwire. It also has a double hook closure in the back for extra lift, support and adjustments. This one retails for $38 and I believe mine is a medium. It comes in 11 gorgeous colors so it’s easy to stock up on several to mix and match with your outfits!
