Decorating Our Kitchen with Porte + Hall

This post is in partnership with Porte & Hall. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

If you’ve been following our home renovation journey, you know our new kitchen design was totally a labor of love.

But once you’ve got your hardware chosen, cabinets in and everything pretty much done, what’s left is softening up the space with functional yet stylish home decor.

Those decisions are always hard for me to make. But one thing I knew I needed sooner than perfectly styled open shelves was a great rug.

That’s where Porte & Hall comes in with the perfect kitchen runner that’s both pretty and practical.

Porte & Hall sells indoor and outdoor door mats, runners and area mats (often used by the front door).

But these aren’t any old doormat that you wipe your feet on and go; they’re very aesthetically pleasing and have that designer look. Yet, it’s still a total workhorse.

What’s great about these rugs is that they’re super thin so if you have any doors, they’ll glide right over. It also has a backside that’s slip-resistant, so you won’t have to use a rug pad with it!

Most importantly, since this is going in the kitchen, it’s very water absorbent.

I went with The Insider Runner in Crocodile. This particular mat comes in 18 different print/color options and is 2’3″ x 6’7″.

The neutral color and modern pattern matches perfectly with our kitchen and I think it really softens up the space.

The length is perfect. I can use it in front of the sink but it also looks nice in front of our stovetop.

My feet are often cold on our hardwood floors, so it’s nice to have something soft and warm underfoot, yet not have to stress about it getting waterlogged on our new floors!

Porte + Hall Indoor Mat Review

I’ve been through a lot of indoor rugs, and this is the thinnest one I’ve ever encountered. But it’s not thin in a cheap way as it has a really nice backing and feels soft underfoot.

Rugs are also often really ugly. But Porte + Hall has plenty of cute and modern designs that will blend really well with your home’s aesthetic.

I will say, rugs that glide around and curl up are the bane of my existence. I love that this one stays in place with no effort, that’s easily my favorite part about this rug.

As far as cons, One small gripe that comes to mind is this rug is not machine washable. You’ll have to spot clean it or use a pressure washer (I plan on doing the latter).

For the rest of our home, I’m already eyeing a few front door mats. This is a high-traffic area so it needs something heavy duty!

I’m particularly liking The Outlier Doormat in Pebble. The contrast against our black door would look nice and I love the rubbery bristles, designed to trap all of that dirt and gunk!

Overall, we’re really happy with our Porte + Hall rug thus far and would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a pretty yet durable rug for your home!

Spread the love!
